     Description of Trail Routes

Casey State Park:  10K, 5K    Rated 1B    (Friday's Featured Walk)
An easy walk with lots of variety, on paved and natural trails from Casey State Park to Fish Hatchery and viewpoints of the Rogue River Dam. Tour the hatchery on the way - a viewing room overlooks the spawning area and an observation deck overlooks holding ponds.  Anglers will be fishing at the popular Hatchery Hole for coho and chinook.    9 miles from Edgewater Inn

The Dam / Rumley Creek Trail:  12K, 10K, 5K    Rated 1B
Walk across the dam for close-up views of the lake and fish hatchery, then you will enter the forest along Lost Creek Lake.
Besides flood control and water storage, the dam gives Southern Oregon 30 miles of shoreline to explore. For the curious, the unusual intake tower in the lake regulates water temp by combining lake water from different depths in a mixing chamber before releasing it downstream.  13 miles from the Edgewater Inn

Viewpoint Mike Trail:  10K    Rated 3C

This trail meanders 2.5 miles across several ridges on its way to a rocky outcrop about 600 feet above the dam giving incredible views of the Lost Creek Lake area.  Where it crosses bare lava, you can see the same kinds of hexagonal basalt columns that are visible beside Hwy 62.  Great Spring wildfower viewing
.   At the top you will see the reclaimed area where they excavated to provide "fill" for the Dam.  950 feet elevation gain.   9.25 miles from the Edgewater Inn

The Blue Grotto:  10K, 5K    Rated 2B
This trail takes you through the forest along Lost Creek Lake back to a small canyon. At the end of the canyon you will come to a box canyon with a beautiful waterfall that only flows in the Spring. This lovely walk shows you the far side of Lost Creek Lake.   16 miles from the Edgewater Inn

Rogue River Gorge Trail:   10K, 20K    Rated 1B
Walk along the wild and beautiful Rogue River as the water rushes through the Gorge and through lava tubes along the way. A local favorite.
36 miles from the Edgewater Inn

Upper Table Rock Trail:   10K    Rated 3C (New walk this year!)
View the entire Rogue Valley from the high perch of these cliff-edged mesas near Medford.   Once a sanctuary for Takelma Indians, today a very popular getaway for locals, especially for Spring wildflowers.  700 ft elevation gain.
. 26 miles from the Edgewater Inn

Shady Cove Town Walk::  11km/5km 1A
Walk through town.   Start at the Edgewater Inn
